Boy Scouts of America Merit Badge Day

Basic Dignities’ Brittany Sterling, P.E. is teaming with the Boy Scouts of America to teach the Soil and Water Conservation merit badge and tour a water treatment facility. Merit badges are a core part of boy scouting and help teach life skills and career paths. The scouts have a requirement to earn merit badges to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. We are looking forward to hosting the Boy Scouts of America and teaching them about the importance of clean water!

Music for Water II

Last year was so fantastic that we're throwing another concert to help us with our final fundraising push for our Uganda Water Project. Thank you to the awesome folks at Dolby Development, Inc and Compass Mortgage, Inc (and specifically Jason Fowler - Compass Mortgage Inc) for their sponsorship of this event!

The 1st half of the program will be classical music, featuring Donald Luryeperforming Brahms on the clarinet and Gary Greene on the French Horn performing Gliere. Both will perform with Kevin Wong on the piano. We'll send you to intermission with your toes tapping to a little ragtime piano and a short update on our project by co-founder, Patricia Fragen.

After intermission (food & beverages provided), we'll be moving even more modern as Chicago Harpist, Nichole Luchs performs Piazolla's "Libertango". We are honored to have Joanna Beasley (of American Idol fame) joining us to finish off the afternoon!

Music for Water Concert

This event is sponsored by Dolby Development, Inc.

Remember all the old black & white movies, with stars like Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney when they were kids, and how often someone spouted a line like “let’s put on a show”? Well, it turns out those days are not gone forever. Basic Dignities did just that to pull together the upcoming Music for Water Concert taking place September 24th, 2 PM, at the Lombard Mennonite Church. There is no charge, but a free will donation of at least $20 per person is recommended.

Talented local musicians, many who play with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and/or are music instructors in the Chicagoland area, are donating their time and talents to raise funds for Basic Dignities’ Kisima Village Water Project. Funds raised will help bring clean water to this fishing village in Uganda.
